General Cargo Transportation

General cargo requires a special treatment. General cargo is a type of cargo that requires preparation before transportation as well as meticulous packaging. Bulk cargo that is transported unpackaged by means of pouring (petroleum) or heaping (grain, coal) requires much less attention than general cargo.

General cargo comprises the following categories of products:

  • Various metal production (steel reinforcement, rolled metal, scrap metal, wire etc.);
  • Reinforced concrete elements and structures;
  • Containers;
  • Mobile machinery (self-propelled, non-self-propelled, machinery on wheels or caterpillar machines);
  • Reinforced concrete elements and structures;
  • Oversized and heavy lift cargoes;
  • Various types of lumber (wood boards, plywood, converted timber etc.);
  • Cargoes in barrels, drums, crates etc.

It’s important to know

According to the documentary standards, general cargo must be thoroughly prepared for transportation. Any kinds of metal products must be adequately packaged in order to maintain the package integrity When it comes to transporting machinery equipment, it is crucial to protect engines from damage and to decide upon a secure method of slinging for loading and shipment for the purpose of excluding the possibility of damage. Oversized and heavy lift cargoes require an individually elaborated method of transportation.
